Can you imagine enduring labor complications with no doctor, no hospital, and no pain medication? For women in Africa, this is their reality. Poverty, early pregnancy, and lack of education place women in positions of severe disadvantage and do not enable them to be advocates for their own health and well-being. That’s why Mercy Ships is investing in women’s health through training midwives and other health care providers to assist in labor and delivery in the region.
